Gospel was Whitney Houston’s forte

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Whitney Houston continues to be the most amazing singer to listen to with such a dynamic and inspiring voice. A unique honey flow voice, one of my favourite songs is I Love the Lord.

Gospel music was her forte and her message meets you at the point of need. “Long as I live and troubles rise, I’ll hasten to his throne”. God was not forgotten at any point of her career. She knew where to go to when she needed a “friend” and a shelter, “who do I turn to in the time of tribulation”. Dynamic she sings the tune, “I go to the rock”, “the stone that the builders rejected”.

Houston’s songs take the leaning on the Lord to higher levels. “I look to you ... as I lay me down ... I’m lost without cause after giving it my all”. But the rising from the ashes place.

When one loses ones soul, that is devastating. However, when new life emerges, one overcomes, never “crumbling”... holding one’s head up high.

Thanks, Whitney, we know forever the strength of the song and the reach to the Almighty.
