The St Catherine South police have charged three persons for breaches of Jamaica's lottery scam laws following an operation last week in Phoenix Village, Portmore, St Catherine.

They are Noel Romeo Martin, 21, a farmer and rafter of Hague Housing Scheme, in Trelawny; Rivaldo Cousins, also known as 'Raheem', 20, a music producer of Rio Nuevo, St Ann; and Javel Watson, 22, a bearer of St Jago Grove in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

They were among 11 people, including a woman, who were detained during the raid on a house on July 17.

The police say electronic devices were found during thorough searches of the premises.

The three have been charged for breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) Act, while the other eight individuals have been released pending further investigations.

In the wake of the raid, the police are reminding house owners and property managers to be cautious when choosing potential tenants.
