THE EDITOR, Madam:

It is with a deep sense of pride that I highlight the sporting achievements of our young women. Our volleyball team achieved bragging rights by copping the Caribbean female volleyball title, which is a historic feat.

Last week, our netballers, the Sunshine Girls, won the bronze medal at the World Cup, beating the formidable New Zealand team.

Today (Tuesday) our Reggae Girlz will play in the group of 16 for a chance to advance in the World Cup. May we all rally behind them and give tangible support and, importantly, sponsorships going forward.

These are remarkable achievements, particularly in this Emancipendence period. Our sportswomen are exhibiting perseverance, independence and liberation of spirits in sporting arenas.

Bravo! Jamaican women. You are lifting the bar and setting the pace amid the odds.
