Zimbabwe seeking to normalise the abnormal

THE EDITOR, Madam:

After allegedly shameful, rigged and unprofessional election on August 23, Zimbabwe has sought to inaugurate a contested election. The world has stood aloof while Zimbabweans are taken for a ride by a reportedly losing candidate. He allegedly sought another term through the back-door.

People in Zimbabwe decided and their will is oppressed by the reported use of Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ), Central Intelligence Organisation, the army, police and other state institutions. The judiciary has reportedly been captured and it is alleged that judges have been given soft loans during the election period.

Tafadzwa Chivaura of Leicester commented on the next five years of the ZANU-PF rule. People are taking to the streets, and there have been widespread incidents of violence reported after the elections. It is alleged that FAZ are going door to door targeting those that are part of the citizenry movement. Mildred Mhlanga of the Change Radio has commented on false arrest of most of the Citizens Coalition for Change members who had cases to challenge the stolen elections, for example, the case of Patrick Cheza. He was arrested for false allegations after an accident. It’s sad that they want to stop his contest as they are putting charges against him like what they did to Job Sikhala.

They are destroying people’s political careers and bringing down all contestants. Cry my beloved Zimbabwe.
