Letter of the Day | Rhoda Crawford, Central Manchester’s champion road fixer

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Through you, Madam Editor, I would like to address the outstanding member of parliament from Central Manchester, Miss Rhoda Moy Crawford.

Dear Miss Crawford,

I celebrate your becoming a member of parliament because you have laboured long and hard to make Central Manchester better than you found it. I have noted your thoughtfulness and diligence in helping with back-to-school gifts and your gifting of water tanks to individuals and communities.

But it is your fixing and repaving of roads that I most celebrate. I note that many roads in Central Manchester have been fixed under your Road-a-Fix project. So exemplary has that project been that I want to invite you to take it outside of your constituency.

Miss Crawford, can I invite you to take your Road-a-Fix project to the roadway leading to the Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St Catherine. Miss Crawford, if you ever laid eyes on the road to Meadowrest Memorial Gardens you would cry. Significant sections of the road are rocky and unpaved. The road is a threat to the well-being of pedestrians, cars and even donkeys.

You see, Miss Crawford, the people of Meadowrest Memorial Gardens have no shame that their customers have to drive on that pitiful excuse for a road. Otherwise, I think they would have found a way to fix the road. Furthermore, state agencies and political representatives have not given the impression that they are concerned to fix the road.

So I am constrained to turn to Central Manchester’s champion road fixer, the one and only Rhoda Moy Crawford. Please, Miss Crawford, take your Road-a-Fix team to St Catherine and let them do what they can to ensure that the road to Meadowrest Memorial Gardens is suitably paved. Both the living and the dead will be grateful.
