Pray for peace this Advent season
THE EDITOR, Madam:
As we enter this Advent season, may we endeavour to generate an atmosphere of peace in our hearts and our environs.
The world is beset with wars, conflicts, turmoil, and unending territorial disagreements. While here at home, we are in a perpetual fight to tame the Ugly Beast of Crime and Violence.
In St Luke 2 vs 14 – “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” The Bible relates this message brought by the angels to the shepherds and, by extension, to us today.
May we develop the virtues of love and forgiveness – the foundations for peace. Starting in the homes, schools, workplaces etc, let peace be the a primal goal for the remainder of our lives.
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Prince of Peace, has come to give us His salvation and so, at this Christmas time, let peace reign.
Aside, but not dissimilar, I saw Donna Gowe, fondly known as Aunty Donna, renowned philanthropist, imploring us to forgive the fallout at Crab Circle and patronise the sellers.
She was passing, saw the area empty, stopped, bought her boiled/roasted corn, soups and yam and salt fish. What was impressive is the fact that she said it was her first time buying there. But she used her platform to encourage sales, highlighting the amenities/aesthetics, and empowered the women sellers there.
Let us pray and live in peace, remembering that forgiveness is possible. Let us pray for peace – for Jamaica, for Jerusalem and the world.
