Outlawing pillion riders?

Published:Wednesday | January 31, 2024 | 12:07 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

My very good friend and a man who knows the streets but wishes to remain anonymous called me making a suggestion of which he is very passionate about. He feels that the Government ought to make motorbikes single-passenger vehicles. This would mean that the pillion passenger would be outlawed.

He argues that many robberies and drive-by shootings are committed with the use of the pillion as the shooter/snatcher and the rider as the getaway man.

He being a bike rider in his younger days argues that the rider alone is not able to carry out these criminal acts on their own with the degree of efficiency that the current pillion passenger on motorbikes are able to.

Food for thought?

So parliamentarians, you may wish to debate this suggestion which comes from the voice of a person fed up with the very high crime rate.
