McDonald’s ‘bitta truth’ should be required reading

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Occasionally, but alas, all too rarely, along comes a communication which hits just about every nail squarely on the head. The contribution of lawyer/businessman Howard Mitchell a few weeks ago on what ails Jamaica was one such brilliant analysis.

Now along comes your columnist Norris McDonald in his February 14 ‘BRICS, the world economic crisis and Jamaica’s pragmatism’. He sets out in stark, brutal detail the precipitate, seemingly inexorable decline of the West, led by the USA, Canada, the UK and the European Union.

Much of this sharp decline is attributable to incompetent leadership (see ‘Lettuce Liz’ Truss UK), thin bench strength (USA and Canada) and, McDonald might also have emphasised, mainstream media in these developed countries which polls have rated even lower than their legislators.

McDonald’s “bitta truth” should be required reading and rereading for every single Jamaican, especially those in leadership.

Thanks for publishing it.
