Warmington sworn in as a State Minister
Controversial South West St Catherine Member of Parliament Everald Warmington has been sworn in as State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister.
The announcement was made by Information Minister Ruel Reid at a post-Cabinet press briefing this morning.
However, when the question was initially put to Reid by Nationwide journalist Abka Fitz-Henley, the Information Minister said he was aware that discussions were taking place about the matter but Warmington had not yet been sworn in.
However, less than a minute later, Minister Reid was advised that Warmington was sworn in this morning at the OPM.
The Information Minister says the public will be advised of Warmington's specific role in the OPM at a later date.
Warmington's appointment brings the number of ministers in the Office of the Prime Minister to four.
The other three are Daryl Vaz, Horace Chang and Derrick Smith.
The OPM currently has the ministries of Economic Growth & Job Creation, Works, Water and Housing and the defence portfolio which is being handled by Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
