Scotiabank treats schoolchildren to heritage tour
It was a fun-filled educational affair when almost 60 students from Denham Town and Holy Family primary schools trekked into the Liberty Hall Museum to learn about National Hero Marcus Mosiah Garvey.
The visit, organised by Scotiabank, formed part of the schools Heritage Week activities. Packed into the relatively small space, the students got an opportunity to interact with each other as they examined the life of Garvey through a series of stories, factoids and music. Students were most impressed with the interactive elements of the display that took them on a journey through his life and work.
The recently refurbished Liberty Hall Museum, the former offices of Garvey, now offer high-tech interactive access to information for visitors. The new facilities encourage engagement through numerous touch screens of varied sizes that assist in telling the story of Marcus Garvey, his life, his issues, and his contribution.
