Five tertiary students living with the sickle cell disease have received financial assistance from the Flow Foundation to assist with the cost of their tuition for the 2016-17 academic year.
The bursary system, launched in 2006 in partnership with the Sickle Cell Unit at the University of the West Indies, Mona, was established to assist students who live with the disease and who, in addition to their regular school-related expenses, have to contend with the cost of health care and medication. Each recipient was also presented with a tablet computer.
