Senior cop in trouble over State of Emergency media leak

A senior member of the police force is now facing possible disciplinary action after allegedly pre-empting Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ announcement of the state of public emergency in St James yesterday.
Hours before the mid-day media briefing called by Holness to announce that a proclamation had been signed by the governor general and gazetted, the senior cop was named as confirming that a state of emergency had been declared in the parish.
"It was a clear breach of protocol and the matter is being probed. He could be referred to the Police Service Commission for action to be taken against him," a highly placed security official told The Gleaner, a short while ago.
There has been no official word yet from the Police High Command.
