A judge has ruled that there is enough evidence for a police constable and two other men to stand trial for the killing of a taxi operator in front of a primary school in St Thomas last year.

The ruling was made in the St Thomas Parish Court yesterday following a committal hearing.

Following the decision, Constable Bradon Logan and his co-accused, Shamalo Panton and Nowayne Ennis, were each granted bail in the sum of $3 million.

The case now goes before the St Thomas Circuit Court and the three men are scheduled to face the court on March 16.

Constable Logan, who is attached to the Hunts Bay Police Station, and his co-accused, who are both from the Kingston 13 area are charged with murder and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

They have also been charged under the Criminal Justice Act for participating in criminal organisation.

33-year-old taxi operator Carl Armstrong was shot and killed in his vehicle moments after he dropped off a student at Grants Pen Primary School last April.

It’s alleged that hours later the vehicle transporting the three accused was intercepted in the Bull Bay area.
