Landmark Developers Limited hits back at Karl Samuda
Landmark Developers Limited is accusing Government Minister Karl Samuda of acting outside his authority after he directed the St Mary Police to bar the company from disconnecting residents of Liberty Estate in Industry Pen from its unfinished sewer system.
Samuda, the Minister Without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, issued the call at a community meeting on Friday where he blasted the company over the disconnections and the incomplete sewer system.

But Landmark says it owns the sewerage system and has proprietary rights under the law.
"Many persons have signed on for Landmark’s sewerage services to date and paid their connection fee, but there are a few who have refused to pay the rates handed down by the OUR (Office of Utilities Regulations)," said Melissa Silvera, Managing Director of Landmark Developers.
She argued that the police should not be asked to intervene in a civil dispute as this would be a breach of the law.
Silvera said Landmark would seek to go to arbitration if there is any breach of the joint venture agreement it signed with the Ministry of Housing.
