$5 million counterfeit cigarette bust in Clarendon
Police detectives from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) have made a big counterfeit cigarette bust in Clarendon.
According to the police, two people have been arrested in connection with the find valued about $5 million.
The police say they made the discovery during an intelligence-driven operation on Water Lane in Mitchell Town around 2:30 p.m.
A male and a female have been arrested in connection with the discovery.
Local cigarette distributors Carreras says illegal cigarettes have been resulting in billion of dollars in losses annually.
It says the illicit trade has also been causing the government to lose revenues.
