C-TOC probing kidnapping in Westmoreland
The Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch (C-TOC) is now probing the circumstances surrounding the early morning kidnapping of five persons in Galloway District, Westmoreland.
The police say the victims include three women, a man, and the seven-year-old daughter of one of the women.
Its reported that about 3 o' clock this morning armed men invaded two homes and robbed the occupants of a Honda Inspire motorcar, two poker boxes and $34,000 before taking them hostage.
The common-law husband of one of the victims was injured during the incident.
The police say more than seven hours later the hostages were released and the stolen vehicle returned after $125,000 were paid to the kidnappers.
The police are assuring that they are working assiduously to apprehend the perpetrators.
