Legal aid for teens charged in relation to attack on Bog Walk students

The Legal Aid Council says it has provided the 14-year-old minor and two teenage boys who have been charged for the death of a Bog Walk High School student and the injury of another with legal assistance.

The council says attorney-at-law Saharee Smith has been assigned to represent the minor, while attorneys Michael Hayles and Cardena Clarke represent the teen boys.

It noted that the assignment of attorneys for legal did follows the Council’s request for the minor to be held at a suitable facility as well as another request for medical attention for one of the two detainees who has a head injury and is suffering from eye discomfort.

The council says the boys and their lawyers were present at question and answer sessions with the police, the first of which took place on Thursday, May 17, 2018.

It says the lawyers will represent the accused at the parish court and later in the circuit court stages of the trial.
