PAJ writes to commish after police stop journalist from recording
The Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) has written to Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson expressing concern about an incident earlier this week in which a policeman stopped a cameraman from "making a recording in a public space."
The videographer is employed to Television Jamaica.
According to reports, the cameraman was attempting to make a recording at a crime scene in Linstead, St Catherine when the policeman ordered him to desist.
The PAJ, in its letter to Anderson, pointed out that "this is far from being the first time an incident of this nature has occurred."
It noted that in February a photographer employed was peppered sprayed by a policewoman after he tried to take pictures of an incident in Cross Roads, St Andrew.
The PAJ said it is awaiting a response from the Police Commissioner.
