Cop accused of robbing businesswoman remanded
The police Constable who allegedly robbed a businesswoman of over $700,000 has been remanded into custody.
The order was made yesterday when the constable, 31-year-old Ramon Walker appeared in the Portland Parish Court.
Walker is attached to the St Thomas Police Division and is facing charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
He was already on suspension from the Jamaica Constabulary Force at the time of the incident for which he was charged.
The police report that about 4 a.m. on July 16 the businesswoman closed her bar after hosting a round-robin in the east Portland community of Manchioneal and headed to her home.
It’s reported that upon her arrival she was surprised by three armed men who robbed of over $700,000.
According to reports, three other persons who were in the car with the businesswoman were physically assaulted.
The police say investigations led to Walker’s arrest.
