A compact disc (CD) believed to contain an interview in which police constable Collis 'Chucky' Brown is said to have mentioned the killing of Robert 'Gutty' Dawkins was admitted into evidence today.
The item was admitted following the prosecution's examination of Assistant Commissioner at the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), Hamish Campbell, who revealed that a covert video and audio recording device was used during a meeting with Brown.
Campbell had testified that he, the accused and another INDECOM officer met at a popular hotel in Mandeville, Manchester on August 6, 2013 where Brown detailed his involvement in a 'special' police squad.
According to the witness, Brown was also at odds with the police force.
"He was angry with the JCF (Jamaica Constabulary Force) for being wrongly accused for the shooting incident at the May Pen Hospital. They had seized his gun and removed him from operational duties. He knew a lot of details about the shooting....he thought he was being unfairly treated in respect to that matter," Campbell told the court.
A transcript of the recording of the meeting was also admitted into evidence.
Three CDs containing an interview with Brown at INDECOM's head office in St Andrew on August 10, 2013, were also admitted into evidence.
Brown is being tried in the Home Circuit Court for the 2009 murder of Robert 'Gutty' Dawkins and the 2012 murders of Dwayne Douglas and Andrew Fearon.
He is also facing a charge of conspiracy to commit murder and wounding with intent.
