More than one thousand participants have gathered at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida for the 2018 Mastercard LAC Innovation Forum, making it the biggest staging in its six year history.

Over the next three days, more than 1300 participants and over 40 speakers from the Caribbean and Latin American will discuss the future of payments and innovation surrounding the industry under the theme "Limitless”.

High on the discussion agenda are topics such as digital security and contactless technology.

"Lots of interesting stuff happening but two of the key components in terms of priorities are contactless, tap and go transactions. This is something coming and we do anticipate a very strong and fast growth of this type of payments over the next couple of years for our region in the Caribbean.

"Also extremely important is digital security. We already have one quarter of our transactions being done in card not present transactions so digital transactions are growing exponentially and when we see the level of security and authorisations of those transactions today they are at a lower level of the transactions done in a physical environment, so we have to make sure that we replicate the same consumer experience on the card not present environment as we have today for physical, because very soon we are going to have those digital transactions matching up with physical transactions,"said president for the Caribbean region, Marcelo Tangioni.
