Five vehicle crash leaves one dead, 9 injured
A five-vehicle crash along the Rose Hall main road in St James last night left one man dead and nine persons injured.
According to police sources, Ricardo Bowen, 31, was pulled from a mangled Toyota Caldina motorcar that collided head-on with a Honda CRV.
The police Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) says Bowen died while undergoing treatment at hospital.
Further, CCU reports that two women suffered serious injuries and have been hospitalised in serious condition.
The others were treated for minor injuries and released, CCU said.
A total of 42 persons were killed in motor vehicle crashes last month, the second highest number recorded over a one month period this year.
Forty-three persons were killed in crashes in May.
Since the start of the year, 335 persons have died on the nation’s roadways, an increase of 14 per cent when compared with the corresponding period last year.
The police report that a Toyota Premio motorcar was travelling towards Montego Bay when it crashed into a Honda CRV motor vehicle.
CCU says the driver of the Honda CRV lost control of the vehicle, which then collided with three vehicles that were travelling on the opposite side of the road.
