Talkback Tuesday

Published:Tuesday | December 11, 2018 | 12:00 AM

When asked on Monday about the controversy surrounding former Energy Minister Dr Andrew Wheatley's possible reappointment to the Cabinet, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said he is a believer in second chances, reform and redemption.

In yesterday's #TalkbackTuesday, we asked:

Do you believe Prime Minister Holness should reappoint Dr Andrew Wheatley to the Cabinet?

Here are a few of the comments:

- A second chance for another $5 billion to go missing? @patoswhirl

- I believe in second chances, but when a person's actions clearly show that they are unable to complete a required job without being corrupt and overall fail the country, then no second chances should be given. @qxeen_sammy

- Too soon. We have a history of "I shall return" proclamations ringing true, but this would be way too soon. It would be a most egregious affront to the principles and expectations of good public stewardship. @Zemi66

- There's such a thing called political liability, and this, my friend, is it. @RamajEkip

- Or 70 times 7. Employ him in your private capacity, but not to oversee taxpayers' money. @browngrilselda53

- The PM must. Memba is a two-seat majority and he does not have the backing of most of his MPs. So he has to be all things to all people; chat anything to pretend he's doing something. NotnivJULIETTsk
