The board of directors of the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) has decided to replace Stephen Wedderburn as executive director of the agency.

Chairman of the BSJ board Government Senator Matthew Samuda a short while ago confirmed that Wedderburn will leave office when his contract expires on December 31.

“The BSJ opened up to process for an executive director by inviting applications.  Mr Wedderburn was among those who applied and he and other shortlisted applicants were interviewed by a panel which included members of the board and the acting permanent secretary in the ministry,” said Samuda.

“At the end of the process we decided on another candidate but I cannot say more on that at this time.  An acting executive director will be put in place for two months until the process of making a permanent appointment is concluded,” added Samuda.

He said the board met with the staff this morning to inform them of the pending change.

“I want to put on record my appreciation for the work of Mr Wedderburn at the BSJ over the period that he served,” said Samuda.
