Illegal guns seized by the police in Old Harbour, St Catherine.

The Clarendon police are making an urgent appeal to residents in the parish to do their part in assisting them to get the illegal guns off the streets.

Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of the parish, Vendolyn Cameron Powell, said that illegal firearms were posing a big problem in the parish.

“We really need the guns,” said Cameron Powell.

If trust is an issue, she said, residents can call Crime Stop and bypass the local police.

Among the areas where the police are struggling to retrieve illegal guns are May Pen, Hayes, Four Paths, Denbigh Crescent, Comfort, Farm/Effortville and Canaan Heights, Savanna Cross and Sandy Bay.

“There’s just too much easy access to illegal guns. Citizens must help to secure themselves by giving up illegal guns,” Cameron Powell urged.
