The Industrial Dispute Tribunal (IDT) has ordered employees of the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) who have taken industrial action back to work.

Workers scheduled for the 8:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m shift were ordered to resume duties by 2 o’ clock this afternoon and workers scheduled for the 2:00 p.m shift should report for normal duties.

This morning, the JPS reported that a number of employees did not report for their regular shifts.

As a result, the JPS said it activated its contingency plans in order to minimise disruption in service to customers in the event of any escalation in industrial action by employees.

JPS said that this follows a breakdown in talks at the Ministry of Labour yesterday between the company & representatives of the Union of Clerical Administrative & Supervisory Employees (UCASE).

The matter was subsequently referred to the IDT.
