Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh is to perform at a cultural concert at Emancipation Park in New Kingston on Saturday as part of a four-day celebratory tour which will commence when she returns to Jamaica on Friday.

Culture and Entertainment Minister Olivia Grange made the announcement this morning at a post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.

The event is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.

The St Thomas native, who was crowned as Miss World on Saturday in London, wowed the audience with her rendition of Whitney Houston’s hit I Have Nothing, which drew commendations from Mike Jackson, the musical director of the movie The Bodyguard, who was in attendance.

“I’ve been in discussions with Julia Morley, the head of the Miss World Organisation and with Miss World herself and I’ve been impressing upon them how eager we all are to see her and to celebrate with her as she begins her reign.

“The initial response from Mrs Morley was that she had a very tight schedule and it would be unlikely before sometime in January. But after discussions, many late night discussions, we all agreed that Miss World should return home for a brief visit organised by the Government of Jamaica,” Grange said.
