#JamaicaVotes | Kurt Matthews working, working to unseat Andrew Wheatley
The People's National Party's Kurt Matthews only had a few supporters when he turned out in St Catherine South Central to be nominated today but he's predicting the complete opposite on September 3 when he faces off with the Jamaica Labour Party's Dr Andrew Wheatley.
As if calling on the heavens, Matthews' supporters sang a string of victory songs outside the Seventh-Day Adventist church in Sydenham today while their candidate was being nominated for the September polls.
"I have been working, and I have been working because when my party sent me here, they said I should deliver the constituency and Spanish Town," he said.

According to Matthews, given the chance, the PNP will ensure that the constituency becomes the face of integrity and creativity.
“This community has been watered down by the lack of integrity that roams so, I'm saying that if the people vote for Teacher Matthews they will get the water that they need because over 30 per cent of the constituency does not have water," he said.
Matthews' contender was nominated in absentia today as he remains at home in self-quarantine.
Wheatley decided to go into self quarantine after coming in contact with Port Maria Mayor Richard Creary who has tested positive for COVID-19.
The incumbent MP has faced a rough term in office following allegations of corruption in relation to the Petrojam scandal
