50 more COVID-19 cases, eight more deaths

Eight more COVID-19 fatalities have been recorded in Jamaica, increasing the tally to 2,192.

Those who have died are:

* A 32-year-old woman from Trelawny whose death was previously under investigation
* A 71-year-old man from St Catherine
* A 91-year-old woman from Kingston & St Andrew
* A 59-year-old man from Kingston & St Andrew
* A 63-year-old man from St Ann
* A 66-year-old man from Portland
* A 54-year-old woman from St Catherine
* A 58-year-old female from St Mary

The Ministry of Health says the deaths occurred between August 25 and October 25.

One more case has been recorded as a coincidental death, pushing the tally to 187.

And three more fatalities are under investigation, moving that figure to 324.

Meanwhile, there were 50 new cases with ages ranging from one to 90 years, pushing the total to 88,530 with 28,553 being active.

Of the new cases, 24 are women and 26 are men.

* St James - 5
* Hanover - 4
* Westmoreland - 2
* St Mary - 2   
* St Ann - 1   
* Portland - 1
* St Thomas - 1
* Manchester - 1  
* St Elizabeth - 1   
* Clarendon - 0
* Trelawny - 0

A total of 748 tests were conducted.

The country's positivity rate stands at 7.5%.

In the meantime, there were 238 more recoveries, increasing the total to 57,182.

Some 297 persons are in hospital with 63 being moderately ill, 35 severely ill and 18 critically ill.

And 40,983 persons are at home in quarantine.
