Alleged One Order gangster held in Spanish Town
Crime fighters in the St Catherine North Police Division have detained an alleged top-tier member of the One Order Gang.
Reports reaching The Gleaner are that he was held during an operation about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police personnel from the division held the alleged gangster in the community of Ellerslie Gardens in Spanish Town.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Linroy Edwards, who heads the operation portfolio, said that a thorough probe is under way.
"Yes, we have a member of the One Order Gang in custody, but we cannot release his name at this time. He will be interviewed by the police and due process follows," Edwards told The Gleaner.
The police have sought to crack down on gangs that have had a reign of terror in Spanish Town and, more broadly, St Catherine.
The Clansman and One Order gangs are the most high-profile criminal organisations in that geographic region.
Thirty-three alleged members of a splinter of the Clansman Gang are currently before the Home Circuit Court on charges under the anti-gang legislation.
