The new term runs for four weeks.

Lottery scamming cases continue to be the leading criminal matters before the Trelawny Circuit Court.

The new term, which runs for four weeks, opened this morning with 137 cases down to be heard, 71 of which are for possession of personal identity.

Some 32 cases of sexual offences, including rape and incest, are listed and 20 cases of murder.

The court will be presided over by Justice Ann-Marie Lawrence-Granger.

She thanked jurors for doing their civic duty.

"You play a very important part in the justice system. You perform the duty of a judge in cases in which you sit and the commitment you show is highly appreciated,” she said.

Appearing for the Crown for the new term are Alexia McDonald and Shanique Farquharson.
