New Transport Authority wrecking fees come January 2
The Transport Authority is to adjust wrecking fees effective Tuesday, January 2.
The charge for a motor car that's within a 5km radius of a pound will be $12,000, with a rate of $600 per kilometre over that distance.
For motor trucks, hiace & coaster buses, and similar large vehicles, the new wrecking rate will move to $22,500 within a 5km radius of a pound, with the per kilometre rate being $800.
Further, the new no key charge for motor cars will be $4,500 while the rate for larger vehicles will move to $6,000.
In a statement today, the transport regulator said the move is part of an effort to curtail and manage the wrecking service operation across Jamaica.
“The agreement is designed to govern the conduct and behaviour of wrecker operators, and to further manage the charge for the services they render,” said Managing Director of the Transport Authority, Ralston Smith.
He said the approved rates must be adhered to.
