Councillor for the Mocho division in Clarendon, Romaine Morris, on Thursday morning crossed the floor of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation to join the People's National Party.

Reading a letter at today's sitting of the Corporation, Morris said he was switching political allegiance based on his "personal conviction and realignment of values and views".

Morris had signalled his resignation from the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in a letter dated January 10, 2023, which was sent to the party's general secretary, Dr Horace Chang.

The Mocho division falls within the North Central Clarendon constituency, led by JLP member of parliament Robert Morgan.
