Police constables fined $250,000 for assaulting man
Two policemen were today each fined $250,000 or six months' imprisonment at hard labour for the assault of a man in the vicinity of Regent Street in Kingston in 2019.
Constables Kenroy Chambers and Tevin Lake were found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm last October in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
Following sentencing, the cops advised of their intent to appeal the court's decision.
Chambers and Lake were charged in relation to the assault of a man in the vicinity of Regent Street, Kingston 14 on October 13, 2019.
They were placed before the court by summons on February 9, 2021, following an investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations and a ruling by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
