Motorcyclist arrested after police seize illegal gun
A motorcyclist was on Tuesday taken into custody after he was reportedly found with an illegal weapon after he tried to elude police but crashed into their service vehicle.
A Smith and Wesson pistol and a magazine containing five cartridges were reportedly found in a bag that was in the man's possession.
The police say about 12:30 p.m., a team of officers from the St Catherine North police division was on surveillance within the March Pen community in Spanish Town, St Catherine, when a man, with a bag around his neck, was seen driving a yellow and black Yamaha motorcycle without a registration plate.
He was signalled to stop and he reportedly disobeyed but collided with the front of the service vehicle. The motorcycle overturned.
He was accosted and during a search of the bag, the illegal weapon was reportedly found.
