Minister of Education and Youth Fayval Williams says the transformation of the education sector must be an ongoing process if Jamaica is to keep pace with global developments.

“It is a very important organisation that we all agree, if we continue to transform, it will move Jamaica forward significantly,” Williams said.

She was speaking at a special forum to honour former ministers of education during the Forum for Innovations in Teaching (FIT3), held at the National Arena in Kingston last Friday.

Under the theme ‘Celebrating Achievements and Reimaging Education for the 21st Century Society and Labour Force’, the forum was used to demonstrate the integration of education, medium, small, and micro enterprises and the information and communications technology (ICT) sectors within the context of the digital transformation journey in Jamaica.

“The forum highlights the fact that the education of our students is a continuing, ongoing process, and a reminder that, as we pivot in response to our global changing environment, so, too, must we adopt a growth mindset,” Williams said.

The FIT3 was hosted by the Ministry of Education and Youth, in collaboration with the Jamaica Teaching Council.
