Three men shot in drive-by in East Kingston

Three men from Kingston East were this afternoon shot in a drive-by along Brae Street.

One of the men is said to be in critical condition, while injuries for the other two are not believed to be life-threatening. The men are said to be from Brae Street and Paradise Street in the division.

When The Gleaner team visited the area, several lawmen were on the scene.

A puddle of blood in front of a fruit shop where the shooting occurred told the tale of the bloody attack.

The lead investigator told The Gleaner that about 1:30 p.m., the three men were walking along the street when men alighted from a motorcar and fired at them before fleeing in the car.

The injured men were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where they were admitted for treatment.

According to the investigator, it is too early to determine the motive behind the attack.

Visibly shaken residents said the area has been tense since last May when three persons were shot and killed in the community. Additionally, they say there is an ongoing gang conflict in the community.

"Sometimes me just afraid fi come road," one resident said.

Another, who had to flee to escape the shooting, said, “Me just happy school never over, cause if school di over, the children dem woulda deh right where the shooting happen waiting on taxi.”
