Woman charged over alleged overseas work and travel programme scam

A Portmore, St Catherine woman has been charged by the police for allegedly defrauding four women in a fake overseas work and travel programme.

Thirty-eight-year-old Shereca Beecher, otherwise called 'Sher', has been charged with four counts of obtaining money by false pretence

Reports from the Hunts Bay police are that between January and May 2023, Beecher allegedly told four women that she would get them access to a work and travel programme in the United States.

Cumulatively, the women paid a total of $2,175,000 to Beecher to get the process started, according to the police.

When Beecher allegedly failed to honour her obligations, the women became suspicious and made a report to the police.

She was later identified, taken into custody and subsequently charged.

Her court date is being finalised.
