Bail denied for man accused of killing St Catherine senior citizen

One of two men charged in connection with the 2020 murder of a senior citizen was denied bail in the St Catherine Circuit Court on Friday.

Twenty-nine-year-old labourer Jordan 'Coolie Man' Edwards, of Gutters district, who is charged with murder and robbery with aggravation, was told that he would be further remanded in light of a damning community report.

His co-accused, 25-year-old mechanic Roderick 'Gramoxone' Webby of Bushy Park in Gutters district, had his bail further extended.

They were bother ordered to return to court on May 9.

Allegations are that about 10 a.m. on November 23,2020, the deceased, 66-year-old Elijah Griffiths, of Cherry district, St Catherine, was driving his motorcycle along the Dover roadway when he was hit by a vehicle.

His throat was slashed and his body disposed of in bushes and his bike was stolen.

A missing person report was filed with the police after he did to returned home from work at Jamaica Broilers.

A search was launched and his decomposing body was later found in bushes in Dover district.

Investigations led the police to discover Griffiths' motorcycle in Webby's possession.

A probe resulted in him been charged with receiving stolen property.

Further investigations led to Edwards being arrested and charged for the murder of the elderly man.

They have made numerous court appearances.
