Voter turnout in several divisions in East Portland is proceeding steadily as the majority of polling stations opened on time at approximately 7:00 am.

Shanique Green, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate for the Fellowship division, expressed confidence that she will defeat her rival, Colin Bell of the People's National Party (PNP).

According to her, she has done enough to win the hearts of the electorate.

Bell, who is also the caretaker candidate for East Portland, was unavailable for comment.

Meantime, former mayor, Wayne McKenzie of the PNP, is optimistic that he will retain his seat against first time candidate, Rosemarie Lindo of the JLP, in the Prospect division.

According to him, the work that he has done over the years is more than enough to guarantee him victory.
