Basil Thompson, the Jamaica Labour Party candidate for the Grange Hill Division in Westmoreland Western, says the party is pulling out all the stops to secure victory.

Thompson, who is contesting his second local government election, says he was impressed with the level of professionalism of election day workers.

He noted that the pace at which voters are coming is slow.

“The process is smooth, they were professional inside there, so I am impressed and everything seems to be going good," Thompson told The Gleaner after casting his ballot at the Grange Hill Primary School.

“It was a little bit slow but we are trying to get out our voters who are working, so the heat is on now,” the JLP candidate said.

Thompson is among three people on the ballot in the division.

The others are Warren Lynttleton representing the People's National Party and independent Lawton McKenzie.

There are 7, 583 registered electors in the division.

In 2016, the PNP polled 892 to the JLP's  850.
