Collen Gager, the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) candidate for the Warsop division in Trelawny Southern, has declared that his work and presence in the area will net him the victory in today's local government election.

He was speaking with The Gleaner this afternoon moments after arriving at the Troy Primary School in the Troy community to cast his ballot for the election.

"If you just look at each PD cluster and see what the turnout is like, you will see the labourites covering in every way. There are also many who don't wear green, and even some you see in the orange, voting for me," Gager said, referencing the signature colour of the People's National Party (PNP).

"I have lived here, I have done my work, I have been courteous and mannersable to people. I don't seek a friend when I need the friend, I find the friend from before," Gager added.

"I can walk in this community, and I know there are people who won't go beyond their political boundary, but it is going to be good."

Gager, who has served as a councillor in the Trelawny Municipal Corporation since 2003, is going up against the PNP's Kedon Glave.

Incidentally, the two men are also cousins.

"There is no mercy, I am out 100 percent, I have done my work, and I know I will be giving him a 'backsiding.' I am going to 'learn' him to have sense," Gager said regarding his chances against Glave.

He also voiced confidence that all of Trelawny Southern's four divisions - Warsop, Albert Town, Ulster Spring, and Lorrimers - will be won for the JLP at the local government polls.
