Ginger Ridge magisterial recount adjourned until tomorrow
The magisterial recount for the Ginger Ridge division in St Catherine has been adjourned until tomorrow in the parish court.
Four of 29 boxes remain to be counted.
The People's National Party's Ralston Wilson defeated the Jamaica Labour Party's Jeremiah Edwards in the recent local government election.
Wilson received 1,017 votes to 1,010 by Edwards.
Edwards is pursuing a recount.
Wilson, who was the incumbent, today expressed confident that the division will go to him.
"I will be wearing my suit to court tomorrow as I expect to be sworn in," declared Wilson, who is being represented by attorney-at-law Dr Kes Miller.
Edwards did not speak with reporters.
However, attorneys-at-law Carolyn Chuck and Alexander Shaw said that Edwards has garnered one additional vote.
It was also declared that if there are problems at the parish court, the matter will go further.
Wilson, Jamaica's longest continuous serving councillor, took the division after a similar magisterial recount following the 2016 local government election.
