Killer of Reggae Girl Tarania Clarke gets six years and six months in prison

Rushelle Foster, the woman found guilty of the 2019 stabbing death of 23-year-old national footballer, Tarania Clarke, was this afternoon sentenced to six years and six months in prison for manslaughter.

The 24-year-old convict, who was initially tried for murder, was sentenced by Justice Leighton Pusey after she was found guilty of manslaughter in January.

The prosecution led evidence during the trial, which started on January 8, that on October 31, both women had a dispute over a cell phone in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, when a knife was used to stab Clarke, otherwise called 'Plum Plum'.

The Reggae Girlz midfielder, who was also the captain of the Waterhouse Football Club's women's team, was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Foster was later arrested and charged.

She, however, maintained that Clarke was accidentally stabbed.

She also indicated that she had reached for her knife in self-defence.
