Mayor of Savanna-la-Mar, Danree Delancy has warned against acts of extortion at the construction site for the new police divisional headquarters for Westmoreland.

He was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the $2.7 billion facility at Llandilo on Friday morning.

“I don't want to hear any talks about any attempts of extortion. I don't want to hear about materials going missing. I don't want to hear about talks of disruption of any sort during the lifetime of this project,” Delancy warned.

He encouraged the residents of the parish to help guard and protect the project and the facility when completed.

“I want to hear of a good report that the project is running smoothly and that it is completed in time and within budget,” the Savanna-la-Mar mayor added.

Work on the project is expected to last 30 months with construction being undertaken by M&M Construction Limited.

Delancy said the morale of the men and women of the Jamaica Constabulary Force in Westmoreland will be elevated with the construction of a new divisional headquarters.
