Hanover painter charged over gun attack on man walking home

A Hanover painter has been charged in relation to a gun attack on a man in Montpelier, Sandy Bay.

Delroy Ellis, otherwise called 'Jovy', of Hell Gate, is charged with wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony.

His court date is being finalised.

Reports from the Lucea police are that about 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, a man was walking home when he came upon a group of armed men, including Ellis, who opened gunfire at him.

He was shot before his attackers escaped in a waiting motor vehicle.

The injured man was assisted to hospital, where he was admitted.

Ellis was taken into custody during an operation at his home on Monday, April 01.

He was later charged on Sunday, April 07, after a question and answer session.
