Portmore cashier charged for allegedly stealing from phone card machine
The St Catherine South police have charged a man who worked as a cashier for allegedly stealing from his job.
Thirty-two-year-old Corey Carter, of Portmore in the parish, is charged with larceny as a servant and access to computer device with intent to commit or facilitate the commission of an offence.
The police say the charges stemmed from an incident at a business establishment in Portmore between February 2023 and January 2024.
It is being alleged that Carter used an authorised code to operate a phone card machine and sold a quantity of phone cards and then purchased gift items valued at $212,520 from the phone card machine and converted it to his use and benefit.
A report was made and an investigation was launched which led to Carter being arrested and charged.
His court date is yet to be finalised.
