Over 100 pounds of compressed ganja seized in St Mary, four arrested
Three men and a woman were on Thursday arrested by the police in St Mary arising from the seizure of over 100 pounds of compressed ganja.
They are being held on reasonable suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The police report that cops assigned to the Area 2 Narcotics Police Division were conducting an operation along the main roads in Retreat and Rio Nuevo last night where several vehicles were signalled to stop.
In the line of vehicles were a 2014 black Toyota Noah and a 2013 grey Toyota Axio.
The occupants obeyed the lawmen, but immediately fled both vehicles.
A search of both vehicles was carried out and 20 knitted bags containing a total of 118 parcels of ganja were found in the Toyota Noah.
The lawmen later intercepted a 2018 white Toyota Corolla Axio which the police say, based on intelligence, is said to have been the pilot vehicle.
The occupants were arrested.
The investigation is ongoing.
