A man accused of defrauding almost US$7,000 from three women in an overseas jobs scheme was today denied bail in the St Catherine Parish Court.

Kirk Letford, 30, who is charged with three counts of obtaining money by means of false pretence, was further remanded until April 26.

Allegations are that in March Letford convinced the three women that he was able to secure employment for them in the United States.

They were allegedly convinced that he would even secure visa arrangements.

He reportedly collected the monies from the women and promised to secure the jobs within a specified period.

When the jobs did not materialise, the accused reportedly became elusive.

A report was made to the Spanish Town police and a probe was done by the Criminal Investigation Branch.

Letford was subsequently arrested and was later charged after a question-and-answer session.
