The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) says it is investigating the death of former councillor Rohan 'Washy' Bryan and will share the findings with his family.

The update follows a protest Monday at the entrance to the Princess Margaret Hospital in the parish.

Prior to his passing, Bryan was admitted at the health facility.

"The SERHA wishes to advise the public that the matter is being investigated. The board of the SERHA will be advised as soon as investigations are complete," the authority said in a statement.

It added that the hospital's management met with Bryan's wife and a family friend "to discuss the matter and advised that the findings would be shared".

"SERHA is assuring the public that all efforts are being made to ensure that patients accessing the various public health facilities receive the best possible care," the statement said.

Bryan was the People's National Party councillor for the Morant Bay Division in the St Thomas Municipal Corporation.

He succumbed to a heart condition on May 1 and was buried on June 2.
